My travel resolutions

1. Check off your trip of a lifetime

Every year I tell myself to go on big travel adventures and places I’ve never been such as Cape Town, Melbourne or Peru. But in the end, I just do half of the places I want to visit. But in 2018 it will be different. The Philippines are on my bucket list for so long and I finally want to make it happen now. But this resolution is not just for 2018. I want to make it my goal for every year: at least one big adventure a year!

By the way, the Philippines are already booked! So don’t miss out to follow me on Instagram in the next weeks to read more about the beautiful country with the 7.000 islands.

2. Eat healthier

You probably know this case when you are away from home, you eat what you get, because fast food, for example, is everywhere. You also try new things and you just can’t get enough. Of course, I want to try local food when I’m in different countries. But in the future, I don’t want to fall into greasy ruts and stop when I’m satisfied. Even if it’s hard, it will be better for me and my body – and my scale will make me smile later.

3. Travel more

London, Bali, Dublin, Barcelona… Places I want to travel to. But what stops me most is time and money. Having a full-time job can’t make me travel as often as I want. To make it still happen, I want to do more weekend trips. Travel more is the device here!

4. Take classes for improvement

Since I’m at the beginning of my travel blog, I want to get better and better. Thus, it’s important for me to take photography and editing classes or go to workshops to improve myself more and more.

5. Visit friends

I have friends all over the world, but I tend to always postpone my trips to them. But not this year! In 2018 I want to visit at least one of my friends. It is a good reason to see them again and keep in touch. Because travel isn’t just about traveling, it is about the relationships you maintain with someone. It is about the people you spend time with on your trips.

6. Be spontaneous

You might know this feeling of planning trips and in the end, you just did half of what’s written on your checklist. It happens to me every time that I miss out on a spot or sight that I really wanted to visit. So this year, it will be a pleasure to go to a place that I don’t know and explore it with all its beauty. Getting lost in beautiful streets, making new friends – there are so many unexpected things that can happen, and that can turn out to be the highlight of your trip.

7. See more than the big sights

Usually, I make a list of sights I want to see. This year I want to explore something else at least on one trip. I want to see how the locals really live and get to know their culture even more. This doesn’t happen when you go to all the tourist magnets.

8. Make new friends in new places

When traveling, you get to know new cultures, new traditions and you always meet new people. It’s one of the best parts on journeys to talk to strangers about the same things you like, about new things, and philosophizing about life. Nothing opens our eyes to the world more like making conversations with people you can’t forget after a trip. I want to experience this more: visiting travelers from all over the world and grow friendships with them.

9. Do something you’ve never done before

In my case, it is something like skydiving, a tandem flight, hot air ballooning, or cooking local food in a foreign country. I just want to try something new, something adventurous, something special and something I’ll never forget.

10. Appreciate more

When I travel, I enjoy every moment. But when I’m back home, I really miss the time back then. But instead of feeling sad about not being on vacation anymore, I should appreciate that I do have the chance to travel at all.

I don’t want to waste my time anymore with thinking of being somewhere else, because I have been there and there are so many other countries to come. So why being sad? I have a home, a job and I have the chance to travel – what more can I ask for?

These are great resolutions. I need to add the point about eating healthier when i travel. I usually eat so poorly and then I have to recover when I get home.

I agree with taking new classes. For me, life’s about learning all the time. Also, enjoy the Philippines, I’ve been before, and it’s an incredible country!
